Many teachers want to have meaningful conversations and discuss complex issues with their novice-level students, but feel unable to do so in the target language. Rather than resort to English or wait until students reach upper-level classes, this session will provide the steps, activities, and inspiration to tackle important issues with your first-year students while maintaining 95% TL use. Whether you are tied to a textbook or have more freedom in your curriculum, you will leave this session with ideas that can be used in your class immediately and the resources to continue these meaningful conversations throughout your novice-level curriculum.
